Standard Model Biomedicine to Present GPU-Accelerated Genomics Tools at CSHL Biological Data Science Meeting
Brian Schilder will present “Exploring the genome at every scale” on November 6
Cold Spring Harbor, N.Y., November 3, 2026 — Standard Model Biomedicine today announced that Brian Schilder, AI Scientist, will present at the seventh Biological Data Science meeting at Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory (CSHL), taking place November 4–7, 2026. His talk, “Exploring the genome at every scale,” on November 6 will cover GPU-accelerated tools for genome-wide interaction calculations and visualization.
Genome-wide interaction analyses are computationally demanding, and exploring their results across scales, from whole chromosomes to individual regulatory regions, remains a challenge. In his presentation, Dr. Schilder will describe how GPU acceleration can make these calculations faster and make the results easier to explore interactively.
“As genomic biobanks scale to millions of people and billions of variants, we need efficient compute strategies that don’t bankrupt researchers,” said Dr. Schilder. “CuEvo speeds up so drastically that it cuts costs by >840x relative to PLINK2; $380 → $0.45. At SMB, we’re building tools and models that can scale not just to the datasets of today, but also far larger ones in the near future.”
The Biological Data Science meeting focuses on the infrastructure, software, and algorithms needed to analyze large datasets in biological research. It brings together a multidisciplinary audience from academia and industry to discuss best practices, identify challenges, and highlight successes. Discussion themes this year include algorithmics, population genetics and personalized medicine, machine learning, tools, visualization and infrastructure, functional genomics, and spatial genomics and spatial biology.
About Standard Model Biomedicine
Standard Model Biomedicine is building a multimodal foundation model that simulates how a patient’s health trajectory evolves under specific medical interventions. By integrating longitudinal medical records, genomics, pathology, and advanced medical imaging, the company’s platform moves beyond statistical analysis to predict patient outcomes, including drug response, toxicity, and disease progression, in the critical and high-attrition phases of clinical development.
